Three pages of the guide: the cover, the wall step and the balance step

Learning the handstand

Four steps, in order. Each one sets up the next.

  1. Step 1Prepare your wristsThe step everyone skips, and the one that stops people after three weeks.
  2. Step 2Hold the positions that prepare youFour positions held on the floor, with no risk of falling. This is where you save the most time before moving to the wall.
  3. Step 3The wall, to build the shapeLearn the straight line before you ask for balance. Solve the two problems separately and you get there twice as fast.
  4. Step 4Finding the balanceYou correct your balance with your fingers, not your shoulders. That is the one thing to understand.

I'm learning the handstand

I started calisthenics in December 2025. I'm not a coach with ten years of experience: I'm someone who is learning right now.

That's why this guide exists. I don't have to remember the early struggles, I'm living them. Wrists that ache after three weeks. The fear of tipping over. Shoulders giving out before the arms.

The guide is free and will stay free. If you're stuck on something, write to me at the bottom of the page: often a single sentence unlocks it, not a whole training plan.
